Dynamical Meteorology and Climatology Unit

Master and PhD thesis projects can be proposed related to the main research themes of the Dynamical Meteorology and Climatology Unit, related to the variability and predictability of the atmosphere. We are currently interested in the understanding of the development of the low-frequency variability that could potentially allow us to perform long term forecasts at seasonal, interannual or decadal time scales. This question is addressed through the analysis of a hierarchy of climate models, in particular coupled ocean-atmosphere models, or data sets, using tools from nonlinear science and stochastic process theories.
